With 12 days left on the #SoupDuTour, it's time for a quick update on the contest!

Announcing the final list of entrants for the 2025 Soup Du Tour!

Did you know that Gruby's NY Deli sells Marky's Caviar? If you're hosting a breakfast, brunch, or would like to offer caviar to your guests at an event, they offer three different types of caviar, as well as packages that include blinis and mother-of-pearl spoons! Reach out to the deli or stop in to see what works best for your special engagement and tell them The Indulgent Islander sent you! 🐟🥚

The best laid plans of mice and men often do go astray, but sometimes the actual outcome is even better than it otherwise would've been. Today Chef Robert Colson and I recorded our very own little homage to the one shot scene at The Copacabana in Goodfellas, with a quick tour of the soon-to-be expanded Market Café before we headed across to the restaurant and into the kitchen for a special demonstration. I planned on making another stop for lunch afterwards, but thanks to my buddy Chef Robby that was not needed, as I got to enjoy his duck confit ravioli and a scallop "hash" with fresh gnocchi, crispy pancetta, sweet corn, and roasted red peppers. This was absolutely delicious, and got me really excited for my next dining experience at Michael Anthony’s Cucina Italiana. I hope you enjoy this feature, The Indulgent Hour "On the Move," and as always, #StayHungry, my friends! 🤙🏽

Justin Patton is one of the most talented sushi chefs in the lowcountry. I've been anxious to have him on so we can discuss his journey, the wonderful world of sushi, and where else he's putting his incredible talents on display these days.

Downtown Catering Company is one of the longest-running food service businesses in Bluffton, and Leah & Ryan McCarthy started it from the ground up. with a lot of help from family in the early days, and more recently with a staff of over 85 part-time and full-time employees between the catering business, Downtown Deli, and most recently Magnolia Cafe. Leah and I sat down at the new 221B Studios at The Grind Roasters in Bluffton to talk about the challenges of running a large, successful business with so many moving parts, how she and Ryan manage that with a family of three children, and how important it is for their businesses and team members to have a connection with their respective communities. As everyone knows. Downtown Deli is one of my absolute favorite spots in town, and their catering and event hosting reputation speaks for itself. Magnolia Cafe is now on my short list of places to visit as soon as possible, as the couple of items I tried were all very tasty and from what I've seen in photographs the restaurant is a beautiful spot inside and out, with waterside views that are a true signature of the quaint little town that is Beaufort. Thanks to Matt Holmes for his work on this one, and remember that you can book time at the podcast studio right on their website. I hope you all enjoy this episode and have a great weekend. #StayHungry, y'all! 🤟

Happy Sunday, everyone! In the Italian culture, family meals are a Sunday staple... Traditionally, the family will gather around the dinner table in the early to mid afternoon to share a number of customary dishes and enjoy each other's company. Just over six months ago, Radici Italian Chophouse opened its doors in the former Pour Richard's space on Bluffton Parkway. Ever since then Chefs Mattia Bianchi and Giandomenico Prestopino, along with front of house manager Camilla Eula, have been sharing this special experience with their customers every Sunday afternoon. In addition to that, they've hosted several outstanding wine dinners, small bite experiences, happy hours, and that's above and beyond the six days a week they've been open for dinner. I sat down with Chef Mattia to discuss how their first half year in business has gone, what's different about owning a restaurant here in the United States versus a Michelin star establishment over in Italy (they are Calabrian, most recently from Torino), and what they're excited to present moving forward into 2026. Their big truffle wine dinner is coming up next month, and their new seasonal menu just debuted this week, so go check out their Facebook/Instagram pages or their website to make your reservations. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and if you celebrate it and/or have the day off tomorrow, we hope you have a Happy Columbus Day! Rimani affamato, i miei amici! 🤌 Thanks to Jakii Morrow for his work recording and co-producing this one! 🙏 And thank you to Mattia, Giando, Cami, George Casalicchio, and the rest of the Chez Georges Bistro & Bar family for their friendship and continued support. 🥂

After our lunch spotlight at Gruby's NY Deli with Thomas Reilley and Jada Reilley Clark got such a great response, we decided to return to the deli to do a breakfast feature, but this time joined by owners Steven and Barry Gruber. The Gruber brothers shared a LOT of really cool history about the deli and how it came to be, as well as some funny stories from over the years, and what customers both local and visiting alike can expect from Hilton Head Island's only New York style Jewish delicatessen. Thanks to Joseph Keith Photography for recording and co-producing this on-location episode of The Indulgent Hour. Please enjoy, and #StayTuned for their #SoupDuTour spotlight (where we'll be enjoying some matzoh ball and chicken noodle soup), as well as special feature on Marky's Caviar, which is available at the deli for your event catering needs! Go check out Gruby's for breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday (with lunch Saturday and breakfast coming soon), try their amazing soups, and #EnjoyEverySandwich on the menu! 🍳🥪🍵

Ally Rogers and Richard Canestrari owned one of the Bluffton area's best restaurants for many years... They've since sold the restaurant earlier this year and have been doing private in-home chef events under the name "Pour Richard's Good To Go." Ally and Richard join me to talk about this new endeavor and how much fun they're having cooking and baking for private parties, special occasions, and other exciting events! They're two of my favorite people, and I'm grateful to have gotten to know them, and very fortunate to be able to have them join me on the podcast!

If you haven't enjoyed a salad, sandwich, poke bowl, or anything else that incorporates greens with LOCAL hydroponic, vertically-farmed greens, then you're missing out... Take a tour of New Leaf's farm with Selma and I as she shows us her entire operation, discusses the types of greens, flowers, and other produce she's growing on her farm, and how YOU can purchase her products directly at their (almost) weekly "Market at the Farm," Saturday from 9 AM to 12 PM at New Leaf Produce! I was super pumped to sit down with Hilton Head music icon John Cranford at Coligny Plaza's newest restaurant, Slowcountry BBQ! John and I really enjoyed their "McMansion" burger, a sloppy brisket sandwich, and some shrimp and crab gumbo (all of which were delicious!) while we discussed this week's Hilton Head Island Jam, the big Rock N' Ribs HHI festival next month, and some of our favorite local grub (as well as some of John's picks up in the midwest!). Hilton Head Island is a hotbed for some super talented musicians, and John is one of them who has supported his fellow acts for many years. I had a blast having this conversation with him. I hope you'll enjoy it and get out there to check out some great live music this week! 🤘
